Ancient Theater of Epidaurus – Ermioni
Ancient Theater of Epidaurus
A short drive from Porto Heli will bring you to the Ancient Theater of Epidaurus, one of the most important archeological sites in Greece. Hidden within the forest, the theater will bring you into contact with all the charms of the country, its unparalleled nature and its glorious civilization.
According to Pafsanias, the theater was built in the 4th century BC by Polykleitos the Younger, even though today scholars do not agree with this. The theater of Epidaurus might not have hosted the great tragedians of antiquity, that is Aeschylus, Sophocles, and Euripides, but today you can enjoy classical performances, during the summer and the Athens and Epidaurus Festivals, at a theater which is famous all over the world for its acoustics.
Ermioni
Get in your car in Porto Heli and a few minutes later you can be at Ermioni, a majestic community, ideal for a swim or some relaxation by drinking a cup of coffee with a view to the sea. Ermioni combines everything good that nature offers: amazing beaches, green forests and a lake, Thermisia, for idyllic walks. Except for the summer, a perfect time to visit Ermioni is during Easter, where you can experience various spectacles, with an impressive one, the burning of Judas, being in the spotlight.
