Porto Heli – Koilada – Ververonta
Porto Heli
It is rare for a place to combine all those elements that would make a vacation perfect. However, Porto Heli has it all. It used to be a fishing village, but now it’s a cosmopolitan destination attracting the best crowds, since it’s a majestic place combining the sea and the mountains while being really close to Athens.
Quiet walks around the harbor, good food in little taverns, amazing beaches with clear water to swim or even dive at the ancient city of Alieis, close and distant trips to Troizina, Mycenae, Epidaurus and the Saronikos islands, Spetses and Hydra… these are some of the things Porto Heli offers generously and this is why it is an ideal vacation destination.
Koilada
Koilada is a picturesque village at the coast of the Argolic Gulf, a few minutes’ drive from Porto Heli. Walk along its boatyard, have lunch in its seafood taverns that bring you every day the freshest catch straight from the boats. You’ll feel that you’re at an Aegean island, the only difference being that Koilada has forests and mountains looming over it, which give it a different edge.
Ververonta
Close to Porto Heli there is Ververonta lagoon and beach. The name probably comes from the Berber pirates that used it as a haven from their pursuers and the elements, while it is also said that the waters there are therapeutic. The beach, besides its crystal clear waters, is also known for its taverns where you can go drink some ouzo enjoying the view and the sea breeze.
